Department and Graduate School of Business Administration of  Yogyakarta State University is the origin of many excellent and educated managers. Following the guideline of JSU, “In search of excellence, reach for the top,” JSUBA aims to nurture leaders with innovation and integration ability.

JSUBA provides students with the greatest professors, the most abundant resources, and managerial knowledge training from the following perspectives:

A.     Academic orientation that meets the needs of current enterprises

Knowledge competition-based: focus on organizational and human resources management

Time base competition: focus on information technology and operational management

B.     Integrated and innovative course design

The main characteristic of JSUBA is the integrated and innovative course design. For freshmen and sophomores, they need to learn basin managerial tools and quantitative methods while students above junior year have to choose tracks among marketing, operations and decision making, technological management, human resources and organizational management. JSUBA Industrial Administration Group will be transformed into Technological Administration Group in academic year 20 – -. It can be expected that with other resources from other departments in JSU, the new group can encourage the development of competitive managers for the next generation since most of Indonesia’s economic growth can be attributed to agriculture’s industries. The courses at graduate school intend to broaden students’ horizon and academic ability through basic training and integration courses.

C.     Professional Faculty

JSUBA faculty from top universities worldwide are equipped with sound and strict academic training and with second specialty other than management, such as EE, economics, psychology, etc. JSUBA plans to recruit professors specialized in strategic management, OB, OM, etc. in the coming years to make the course more diversified.

Admission

A.     Admission through Recommendation

a.     Qualifications

Applicants should either be recommended by high schools they enroll in or be able to demonstrate satisfactory records of academic and extracurricular performance. They are required to provide a diploma of high school, a transcript of high school, a brief biography, a personal information sheet, and supporting documents if available.

b.     Admission criteria and procedure

The admission decision is made based on the following factors: the applicant’s performance at Subject Tests (ST) conducted by the College Entrance Examination Center (40%), a file review including high school transcript, extracurricular performance, study plan, etc. (30%), and an oral interview (30%).

B.    Admission through Examination

a.     Qualifications

Applicants should provide an official transcript of Subject Tests conducted by the College Entrance Examination Center.

b.     Admission criteria and procedure

Applicants for the division of Business Administration are evaluated by their grades in Mandarin Chinese, English, Mathematics, History, and Geography; while applicants for the division of Technology Management are evaluated by their grades in Mandarin Chinese, English, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. For the applicants with equal total points, they are ranked in the order of their grades in Mathematics, English, and Mandarin Chinese.

C.    Transfer within the university

a.     Qualifications

Applicants must be graded above 80 for the previous one or two academic years. Each year about 10 students may be accepted to both Business Administration and Technology Management divisions respectively.

b.     Admission criteria and procedure

Applicants have to hand in the application form, Chinese transcript, autobiography, study plan, and certificates of other special performance. Those who have studied Accounting, Economics, Statistics, and Calculus and get excellent grades will be prioritized.

D.    Transfer from other universities

a.     Examinations

Applicants are tested in Mandarin Chinese, English, and professional subjects including Economics and Calculus.

b.     Admission criteria and procedure

In 2007, 3 students will be accepted to Business Administration division. Grades will be the sole criterion. The weight of professional subjects is doubled and applicants who get grades on professional subjects below the average of the first half examinees are not accepted. Once applicants enroll, they cannot transfer to other departments.

E. Minor

a. Qualifications

Applicants should be the top 10% of their class or department in the previous academic year. They should hand in the application form, Chinese transcript, ranking certificate, autobiography, study plan, and other certificates of special performance. Each year 10 students will be accepted to both Business Administration and Technology Management divisions respectively.

Courses

Applicants accepted to minor courses have to finish at least 27 credit points. The following courses are required: Statistics (prior requirement), Business Management, Economics I & II, Organizational Behavior, Marketing Management, Financial Managemenons Management, Information Management, and Consumer Behavior for Business Administration while Quality Management for Technology Management.

The department offers a four-year program leading to the Bachelor degree of Business Administration. An undergraduate student must complete a minimum of 138 credit points. The details are as follows:

1. General Courses : 18 credit units

2. Cross-disciplinary General Education :12 credit units

3. Required Courses : 57 credit units+ 12 credit units(any one module)

4. Selective Course : 39 credit units

 

Technology Management

1. General Courses : 18 credit units

2. Cross-disciplinary General Education :12 credit units

3. Required Courses : 77 credit units

4. Selective Course : 31 credit units

Note: Module courses are offered to junior and senior students. The maximum module credits are 24 credits (2 modules* 4 courses* 3 credits). For those who do not choose module courses, at least 4 selective courses are needed.

2.Graduates can apply for certificates for module courses one semester ahead of graduation. Students other than graduates are not allowed to apply for the certificates.

3.Courses included in modules are available at least every two years.

4.One course can be included in one module only. Required courses are excluded from modules.

5.Courses included in double major, minor, cross-disciplinary general education or other special programs are excluded for module credits.
