Although the awareness is rapidly growing, the level of attention and political will from other stakeholders is however still inadequate. There is also a bewildering variety of programs and concepts for character education causing confusion and uncertainty. This conference aims at bringing together leading researchers, educators and other scholars to discuss a more focused implementation of character education.

which three reports have been respectively published in 2005, 2007 and 2009. This is the third time to evaluate the world-class universities and research institutions. Original data are obtained from Essential Science Index (ESI) published by Thomson Reuters; subject competitiveness of world universities is evaluated and analyzed in a scientific, subjective and comprehensive way; three categories and thirty pieces of rankings are obtained. Effective use of global rankings in making institutional strategic plans and positioning for building a world-class university
Hou, Yungchi | Robert, Morse | Chiang, Chunglin
Geomatics and Information Science of Wuhan University [Geomatics Inf. Sci. Wuhan Univ.]. Vol. 35, no. Suppl. 2, pp. 10-22. Nov 2010.
Since entering the 21st century, the development of college rankings has become internationalized. Four major global rankings have been developed up to the present, including Academic Ranking of World Universities, World University Rankings, Webometrics Ranking of World Universities and Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities. Currently, a major concern for most top university administrators is how to use global rankings wisely on the institutional level for both short term and long term strategic planning. The main purpose of the paper is to explore the most influential factors in the 4 major global rankings which will affect the rank mobility of an institution. Based on an analysis of correlation coefficients and K mean of cluster, a sophisticated model of strategic institutional planning for building a world class university is proposed at the end of the paper as a conclusion.
